Carlos Diaz is an American Academy of Ophthalmology board-certified surgeon who is highly skilled in the medical and surgical treatment of ocular conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and pterygium. After receiving his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, Carlos Diaz, M.D., accepted an Ocular Pathology and Research Fellowship at L.F. Montgomery Ocular Pathology Lab at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia, a top 20 ophthalmology center as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
After completing his two-year fellowship at Emory Eye Center, Dr. Diaz accepted an internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1999, Diaz returned to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio for a residency at Case Western Reserve University. Following his residency, Dr. Diaz moved to South Texas, where he practiced for four and a half years before opening his own private ophthalmology practice. Diaz continued to serve the San Antonio and Texas Hill Country communities from his Boerne practice until joining Viso Lasik Medspas San Antonio, Texas location, where he helps people see clearly without corrective lenses every day.
Dr. Diaz has studied and trained under the tutelage of some of the most highly respected members of the medical community, and has co-authored numerous publications with noted ophthalmologists over the years. He is active in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association and Texas Medical Association and remains committed to keeping abreast of the latest advances in his field. Dr. Diaz enjoys ongoing education and participation as a lecturer and attendee at ophthalmology conferences.
