Galen Grayson, MD is a Harvard Medical School graduate (1988) who has practiced refractive surgeries for more than a decade. In 2002 he founded Genesis Eye Center where he currently serves as the president. He is certified on multiple laser systems and is a member of American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Grayson graduated Summa Cum Laude and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA in 1983. He attended the Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria in 1980-81 and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California/Doheny Eye Institute Los Angeles, CA (1993).

Dr. Grayson is the former chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC and currently oversees emergency related eye care and eye trauma. Other hospital affiliations include Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC and Kings Mountain Hospital, Kings Mountain, NC. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Charlotte Medical Society and the American Board of Ophthalmology of which he is Board Certified.

Among his many accolades, Dr. Grayson was a decorated officer in the United States Navy where he received the Navy Commendation medal and two Navy Achievement medals. He was also a recipient of the United States Navy’s Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and the Merrill Overseas Scholarship. He received the Julia Dykman Andrus Fellowship in Surgical Research and the American Heart Association Research Fellowship.
